In therapy, I focus on the therapeutic relationship in the "here and now" as well as the specific problem and history that each person brings. My style is quite active but I try to adapt it to each individual. My orientation is psychodynamic; however, I incorporate other modalties as needed.

My practice is a general one for adults and adolescents, and adolescents are a special interest of mine. I have experience with patients who have experienced prior therapeutic failure. Also I have extensive experience with sexual abuse, trauma, and addictions as well as major depression and severe anxiety.

I have a master's degree in clinical social work from Arizona State University. My orientation is eclectic with an emphasis on personal attachments. I graduated from the Psychoanalytic Institute of Northern California. My graduation paper was on the significance of Virginia Woolf's ideas to my profession. My doctoral degree is on the use of group dynamics in understanding the self. Writing and creativity are of special interest to me and I combine art and journal writing in my treatment.

I have had training and experience in group therapy, supervision, consulation. I have done training and teaching in sexual abuse, psychoanalytic theory and culture, treatment theory, and techniques.
