Ginny Stewart received her master's degree in social work from the University of Michigan, and has been licensed in California since 1976. She holds a Board Certified Diplomate in Clinical Social Work from the National Association of Social Workers and the American Board of Examiners. She is an allied health professional member of the Department of Psychiatry at Mills-Peninsula Hospital in Burlingame, and has a California Community College Instructor Credential. She is in private practice in San Mateo.

In addition to her private practice, Ms. Stewart has worked for the Family Service Agency in Burlingame, the Crisis Intervention and Suicide Prevention Center and San Mateo County Family Court Services as a mediator for divorcing couples. She has developed treatment programs for child abuse and has led groups for women sexually abused as children. She taught the California licensure required training for the Child Abuse Reporting Law to professional mental health providers, and has taught parent education. Through the Red Cross she participates on the mental health team in the bi-annual disaster preparedness drill at the San Francisco Airport. She has special interests in working with trauma, critical incident de-briefing, grief and loss, divorce, relationship problems, and depression and anxiety disorders. She has written an article on Understanding and Treating Panic Attacks.

She believes that joy and laughter are essential components of the life worth living, and that every client should be treated with respect and compassion on their journey to wholeness.
